National Night Out- 2013
Posted on Aug 14th, 2013

National Night Out, sponsored by the Hayward Police Dept. and Target stores, was celebrated throughout Woodland Estates on August 6th.  It is the country’s largest annual crime prevention event, involving over 36 million people and 15,000 communities nationwide.  The purpose is to get to know your neighbors better in a fun, social setting.  Knowing and watching out for your neighbors has proven to be the best way to keep neighborhoods safe.

Woodland Estates had 10 block parties hosted throughout our neighborhood……. a terrific turnout!   The various parties included barbeques, ice cream and candy socials and pasta dinners.  Police, fire and city representatives visited and joined in the festivities so that Woodland “Estaters” not only got to know their neighbors better, but their community support personnel as well.

Many thanks to your Neighborhood Alert block captains for their hard work hosting these awesome parties.  Word has it that many went on well past 9 pm!

Also thanks to all the local merchants for their kind and supportive donations for our raffles.  These include China Best, Bronco Billys, Peets, Buffalo Bills, Paneras, The Book Shop, Hayward Cinema, Fresh and Easy, Pete’s Hardware, Starbucks, Val’s Burgers, and Casper's Hot Dogs.  If you visit any of these businesses please thank them for their donations to National Night Out.
See you in the neighborhood!

Norine and Bill Dolyniuk
